Vassily Brezutsky absent in Euro 2012

Vassily Brezutsky absent in Euro 2012 CSKA Moscow defender Vassily Berezutsky will miss the European Championships - UEFA EURO 2012 next month in Poland and Ukraine because of an injury to his hip bone the Russian coach Dick Advocaat said on Sunday.

"Berezutsky will leave the Russian team," said Advocaat as published in the pages gazeta.ru, after the team's first training session in Moscow.

"He has not been primed during the competition," said the Dutch coach of that, "We took this decision after discussions with Vassily," he said.

The 29-year-old player, who also played his twin brother Alexei in the national team, said the absence of it in Sport Express.

"Unfortunately, my injury condition is getting worse, not as originally expected," he said as reported by the newspaper.

"Today I tried out for exercise but I find it very painful and uncomfortable. I think it signifies the injury I have not lost," he said.

Russia will join in a host group with Poland, Euro 2004 champions Greece and the Czech Republic in Group A, hoping to repeat their success in 2008, when they reached the semi-finals before losing in the hands of the team that eventually became the champion, Spain.
